Joshua Meadows

Joshua Meadows is the north Oakville district east of Trafalgar Road, between Dundas Street East below and Highway 407 above, extending east through Sixth Line and Eighth Line toward Ninth Line and the Mississauga boundary. The 403 and 407 junction sits near its northeast corner. Lines between Joshua Meadows, Glenorchy across Trafalgar and the Uptown Core south of Dundas are approximate on TRREB maps, and the newest phases near Ninth Line are sometimes filed under other names.

Joshua Meadows is entirely new construction, mostly 2015 onward. Detached homes are two-storey and occasionally three-storey houses on lots of thirty to forty-five feet, with attached garages, between three and five bedrooms, and the open main floors that buyers from plans expect; the widest lots line the streets nearest the natural heritage corridors and Eighth Line. Freehold and condominium townhouses, including back-to-back and rear-lane designs where the garage faces an alley, line the collectors, and along Dundas Street East the density rises to stacked towns plus mid-rise and high-rise condominiums in the Oakvillage blocks around Trafalgar and Sixth Line. Some phases toward Ninth Line and the 407 remained under construction in 2026, so the same street can mix occupied houses with builder lots. Basements are usually unfinished or builder-finished, driveways may wait for the builder's final paving, and the Tarion warranty on the newest homes is still running. Trafalgar Road and Dundas Street East are the district's connections. Oakville GO at Cross Avenue sits about fifteen minutes south along Trafalgar by car, and Oakville Transit runs Dundas, Trafalgar and Sixth Line buses to the Uptown Core terminal across Dundas and on to the station; GO's 407 bus service uses the Trafalgar park and ride at the district's northwest corner. Drivers have the 407 at Trafalgar, the 403 at Dundas near the Mississauga line, and from there the QEW via the 403; Winston Churchill Boulevard and Ninth Line lead into Mississauga's Churchill Meadows for shopping and Erin Mills Town Centre. A Dundas bus rapid transit line, still only planned, would run along the district's southern edge if funded. Cycling is easy on the new multi-use paths along Dundas, Trafalgar and Sixth Line, and the creek corridors are being linked into a trail network, though construction detours are still common.

Joshua Meadows is where the school boards have been building. The Halton District School Board opened the Dr. David R. Williams school for the north Oakville east streets, with earlier students assigned to Oodenawi Public School across Trafalgar or to schools south of Dundas, and its secondary students go to White Oaks Secondary School or Iroquois Ridge High School until a north Oakville high school opens. The Halton Catholic board serves the district from St. Gregory the Great Catholic Elementary School and other nearby sites, with the Sixth Line campus of Holy Trinity taking the secondary grades. HDSB places French immersion at designated schools with busing, while Viamonde and MonAvenir deliver French-language education from their Oakville schools. Because streets are still being added, catchments are redrawn frequently and portables are common; ask each board for the current assignment of the specific house. Sheridan College is straight south on Trafalgar.

The natural heritage system that the North Oakville plan wove between the subdivisions gives Joshua Meadows more green than a typical new district: creek corridors, hedgerows and wetlands with trail links along Joshua's Creek and its tributaries, plus neighbourhood parks with splash pads, sports fields and skate features as each phase registers. Uptown Core, directly across Dundas at Trafalgar, supplies the supermarket, big-box stores, restaurants and the bus terminal, and the Dundas plazas at Sixth Line and Eighth Line are filling in with pharmacies, cafes and daycare. Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital lies a drive west along Dundas at Third Line, the nearest ice is at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex up Neyagawa, and Iroquois Ridge's community centre at Glenashton and Eighth Line has a pool and a library branch. A community centre and library for north Oakville east are in the Town's plans; check the current status. Erin Mills Town Centre in Mississauga is about ten minutes east.

Joshua Meadows suits buyers who want the newest house they can get in Oakville, with a warranty, a modern floor plan and neighbours at the same life stage, and whose work takes them along the 403 and 407 to Mississauga, Toronto's north or the airport rather than to Union Station. It also fits investors and first-time buyers using the Dundas condominiums and stacked towns as an entry point. The fit is harder for anyone wanting shade trees, a walkable old main street or a GO train nearby, and for buyers who dislike construction, since phases toward Ninth Line and the 407 kept building through 2026 and school portables remain common.
